Main projects which are being carried out:
- Nanobiosensors by layer by layer self-assembly
- Drug design by genomic-proteomic approaches and by bioinformatics
- Cellular and tissue engineering as relates to neural tissue regeneration, articular chondrocyte based materials and cardiomyocytes
- Polymeric nano-engineered capsules for drug delivery with special reference to oncology
- Atomic force microscopy with special reference to the identification of proteins on cell surfaces by functionalized AFM tips
- Carbon nanotubes and their functionalization for delivery and sensing
- Participation into several National sponsored projects and into several EU sponsored projects. As relates to the EU sponsored projects: at present involved in the TASNANO project (Sixth Framework Priority 3: Nanotechnology and Nanosciences, Knowledge-based Multifunctional Materials, New Production Processes and Devices) and coordinator of the CardioWorkBench project (Life Sciences, Genomics and Biotechnology for Health).
