Contribution to the objectives of the programme GROWTH

The ADHESTOP project is an RTD programme that responds to the generic activity of developing advanced functional materials and cross cutting technologies. Biocompatible surfaces with reduced bacterial adherence will be necessary in all sectors of advanced biomaterials in the medical field and in addition find more general applications for environmental monitoring purposes and sensing . The understanding of fundamental correlation between new developed materials and subsequently induced biological reactions is the cornerstone for long-term directed product developments.

Funding of ADHESTOP: The project is funded by the EC.

Duration 12 / 2001 - 11 / 2004, 36 month

Contract N° G5RD-CT-2001-00594

Project Officer: Mrs. E. Calvet, European Commission

In the frame of the European thematic network "Materials in Medicine / MATMED" the project proposal ADHESTOP was pre-evaluated with respect to the innovation character of scientific and technical objectives for minimising medical device associated infections.
