On behalf of the Organizing Committee, it is a great pleasure and honour for us to invite you to attend the 9th IEEE Conference on Nanotechnology.

After the successful conferences in Maui  (2001), Washington D.C. (2002), S. Francisco (2003), Munich (2004), Nagoya ( 2005), Cincinnati (2006), Hong Kong (2007), and Arlington (2008) IEEE NANO 2009 will be hosted for the second time in Europe, in Genoa.

The conference aims to bring together researchers, industry, workers entrepreneurs and funding agency leaders, hope that  IEEE NANO 2009 will provide a forum for exchange of ideas, interaction, networking and collaboration for research and development in nanotechnology with special reference to the latest advances in nanotechnology.

The technical program covers all major topics in Nanotechnology and specifically engineering issues.
Plenary talks, Invited talks and Contributed papers will be given, and tutorials ad workshops will be organized. Suggestions from prospective participants are welcome for specific tutorials and special workshops/sessions.

Genoa is one of the largest ports on the Mediterranean sea. Genoa has a very large medieval town in Europe. The old palaces of the nobility, more numerous and more splendid in Genoa than in any other Italian town, for example Via Garibaldi designed by the architect Galeazzo Alessi gives some impression of the magnificent life-style of the 16th and 17th centuries. Many churches of Genoa are of very ancient origin.
In the port are il Bigo crane by Renzo Piano offers panoramic views over the city and sea beyond. Five minutes’ walk from there, the Genoa Aquarium, with 30 natural environments, represents the greatest variety of ecosystems and the largest exhibition of biodiversity in a European aquarium.

The conference is sponsored by the Nanotechnology Council, which was officially formed in 2002 and has since then been the focus of nanotechnology activities in IEEE and more generally, a most important focus of the nanotechnology community worldwide.

We would like to thank all involved in planning, organizing and supporting the conference and we welcome and thank all participants. We hope you will enjoy your stay in Genoa.
