Fellow, Professor at High Institute of Agronomy, chairs of History of Garden Art, Garden Restoration and Landscape Ecology. Head of Department of Landscape Architecture Department (1993-97). Responsible for the recent restoration of Botanic Garden`s of Ajuda (1993-97). Project Director of "Garcia de Orta Garden`s" in EXPO`98 (1993-98). Editor of "Green Book of EXPO`98" and "Botanic Gardens of Ajuda". Co-ordination of the book Castel-Branco, Cristina (Coord.), Necessidades: Jardins e Cerca, Livros Horizonte/Jardin Botanico da Ajuda, Lisboa, 2001.  Design and Project Coordination of Culture 2000 Programme "Plants in European Masterpieces".

Paulo Lowndes Marques: Is graduated in Law by Lisbon University. Secretary General of Cabinda Gulf Oil Company. Was legal executive of the Plessey Telecommunications Co. in London. Former Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs in the Portuguese Government. He is Senior Partner of Abreu & Marques, one of the largest law firms in Portugal. President of the Portuguese UK Chamber of Commerce. Hon. Legal Advisor the British Ambassador. Chairman of the British Historical Society of Portugal. Order of the British Empire, OBE and Knigh of Grace and Devotion of the Order of Malta. President of the Association World Monuments Fund - Portugal, which won the Europa Nostra Award (2000) for the restoration of the Tower of Belém. Coordinator of Culture 2000 Programme "Plants in European Masterpieces".

Isabel Cruz de Almeida: Is graduated in History, by the University of Coimbra, Post-graduation in Museology and Art management. Curator of the Museu Nacional do Azulejo (Portuguese Tile Museum) in 1982, and Director of the Mosteiro dos Jerónimos e Torre de Belém since 1984. Administrative responsible for the Restauration of the Torre de Belém – Awarded "Europa Nostra". Vice- President of the Association World Monuments Fund – Portugal.

Vera de Sá da Bandeira: Is graduated in History of the Arts, by the University of Lisbon (1997). She went to Italy (1998/99), with a Scholarship to the Universitá Degli Studi di Pisa, where she performed Post- Graduated studies in Art of the Renaissance. Vera is since 1999 working at the MJ, doing Historical e Artistic research in areas related to this Monument. In Cultura 2000 Programme "Plants in European Masterpieces"she is the Art expert for the Mosteiro dos Jerónimos.

Jorge Sande de Lemos: Studies in Antroplogy at University of Angola (1983/87) and was Director of National Antroplogical Museum of Luanda (Angola) 1980/84. He works at the Mosteiro dos Jerónimos since 1998, where he has been doing, the inventory and identification of sculpted flowers through the whole building.

Sandra Mesquita: Degree in Landscape Architecture (High Institute of Agronomy, Technical University of Lisbon, 1997). Graduation thesis on the area of historic gardens under supervision of Prof. Cristina Castel-Branco. Worked as a Flora and Vegetation Specialist for several National and European Projects on Biodiversity and Forest Management (1998-2002). Botanical Consultant in Culture 2000 Programme "Plants in European Masterpieces".

Sónia Talhé Azambuja: Degree in Landscape Architecture (High Institute of Agronomy, Technical University of Lisbon, 1999). Graduation thesis on the area of historic gardens under supervision of Prof. Cristina Castel-Branco. Assistant Project for the European Raphael Programme on historic garden restoration, focusing historic research (18th-19th century) on Tapada das Necessidades (2000-2001). Co-author of the book Castel-Branco, Cristina (Coord.), Necessidades: Jardins e Cerca, Livros Horizonte/Jardin Botanico da Ajuda, Lisboa, 2001. Actually she is completing a Master in Art, Herotage and Restoration, Institute of Art History at the University of Lisbon. Assistant Project Leader in Culture 2000 Programme "Plants in European Masterpieces".

Pilar Bosqued Lacambra: Pilar Bosqued Lacambra es Licenciada en Geografía e Historia. Diplomada como Paisajista, Jardinero Proyectista y Oficial Jardinero de Primera. Desde 1985 se dedica a la identificación de la flora y vegetación en los tapices, especialmente los flamencos de los siglos XV, XVI y XVII. Ha estudiado la presencia botánica en las mejores colecciones de tapices del mundo y en la pintura, escultura, arquitectura y otras artes. Es autora de varias publicaciones y artículos sobre identificación botánica en tapices, jardinería y paisajismo.

Vítor Serrão (1952): Associated Professor. Art History Institute’s Director. B.A. of History at the Faculdade de Letras (University of Lisbon), 1975. M.A. of Art History at the Faculdade de Ciências Sociais e Humanas (Univ. Nova Lisboa) (Social Status of the Mannerist Painter). Ph.D. in Art History at the University of Coimbra, 1992 (Portuguese Proto-Baroque painting). Main interest in the Portuguese painting from the late fifteenth to the late seventeenth centuries. Recent publications include the book The Cripto-History of Art. An analysis of inexistent Works of Art (Livros Horizonte, 2001).

Fernando Grilo (1962): Assistant Professor. B.A. of Art History at the Faculdade de Letras (University of Lisbon), 1985. M.A. of Art History at the same school (Andrea Sansovino in Portugal at King Manuel’s epoch), 1990. Ph.D. of Art History at the University of Lisbon, 2001 (Nicolau Chanterene and Renaissance Sculpture in Portugal). Main interest in Renaissance sculpture, theories and practices of nineteenth and twentieth centuries, work in historical monuments. He is the co-author of the catalogue The Bright of the North (1998), about Flemish renaissance sculpture in Portugal.

Maria João Neto (1963): Assistant Professor. B.A. of Art History at the Faculdade de Letras (University of Lisbon), 1985. M.A. of Art History at the same school (The Restoration of Santa Maria da Vitória Monastery, 1840-1900). Ph.D. of Art History at the University of Lisbon, 1996 (The Direcção-Geral de Edifícios e Monumentos Nacionais and also studied the Portuguese Architectonic Heritage, 1929-1960). Main interest in the theories and practices of nineteenth and twentieth centuries, work in historical monuments. Recent publications include the book Memory, Propaganda and Power. The Restoration of National Monuments (FAUP, 2001).

Manuel Batoréo (1937): Assistant. B.A. of Art History at the Faculdade de Letras (University of Lisbon), 1990. M.A of Art History at the same school (Mestre da Lourinhã’s Painting. The evolution of a painting workshop), 1999. Ph.D. working at the University of Lisbon concerning European Engravings as iconographic sources for Renaissance Painting in Portugal. Main interest in Late-Gothic and Renaissance painting and iconography in Portugal, subjects that he has published several studies.

Luís Afonso (1972): Assistant. B.A. of Art History at the Faculdade de Letras (University of Lisbon), 1995. M.A. of Art History at the Faculdade de Ciências Sociais e Humanas (Univ. Nova Lisboa) (The Mural Paintings of St. Francis Church in Leiria), 1999. Ph.D. working at the University of Lisbon concerning Portuguese Mural painting between 1400 and 1550. Main interest in Late-Gothic visual culture. Recent publications include the article "The cultural construction of the Jews in Late Medieval Portugal. Contributions to a reevaluation", Mitteilungen der Carl Justi Vereiningung, 2001.

Ricardo Silva (1975): Art History Institute’s Researcher. B.A. of Art History at the Faculdade de Letras (University of Lisbon), 2001. M.A. in preparation at the Faculdade de Letras concerning The Vaults during King Manuel’s reign (University of Lisbon). Main interest in Late-Gothic architecture. Recent publications include the article "The chapel of Holy Christ in Teixoso. An artistic and historical analysis", Património. Estudos, 2002.
